Fanatical About Botanical #3

For my 3rd entry in the Moxie Fab's Blog challenge ( http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/07/next-moxie-fab-world-challenge.html ), I was inspired by this awesome pair of shoes from Le Scrap de Caio that Cath posted as an example of the Botanical Style....

I love them! I don't think I could walk in them but I still love them! haha.
For my card, I wanted pretty pinks and greens on a pale blue background. I tried a couple techniques that I have not yet attempted.
First, I colored with markers directly onto my Hero Arts Large Fabric Design background stamp. Then I inked the same stamp with embossing ink and stamped right over the image and embossed it with clear powder. Then I covered it with Tumbled Glass Distress ink and wiped it off.
I stamped a butterfly from the Antique Engravings set and colored it with Copic markers cut it out and placed it on a die cut circle that I sewed around the edges with embroidery floss and added a button. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

I am going to try this inking technique again soon cause it was fun!

Fanatical About Botanical Challenge Again

This is my second entry in the Moxie Fab Blog's Fanatical About Botanical challenge. http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/07/next-moxie-fab-world-challenge.html
For this card I stamped a pretty little Prima stamp onto white cardstock and colored it in with Copics. For the flowers, I used R22,R30 and R32. For the leaves; YG91 YG93 and a bit of Y17. Then I filled in the background with warm grey #2. I added Liquid Pearls in Petal Pink for a little shine. I added a scalloped strip of Spring Moss cardstock and some white that was embossed with a woodgrain plate. Popped up with foam tape on a piece of woodgrain d.p. from Crate Paper. I embossed the Hero Arts sentiment with white embossing powder and placed it on a Kraft cardstock base.
I really like how this turned out and already know who I am going to send it off to. I hope she likes it!
I think I will make one more for this challenge so I better get to work...

Fanatical about Botanical

Cath at the Moxie Fab Blog http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/07/next-moxie-fab-world-challenge.html is hosting a fun challenge and I had a little time to create this card:
The challenge is to create a card in the Botanical style. I had fun making this!

First, I cut out the tag using a Papertrey Tag Sale 3 die.
Using Scattered Straw ink, I stamped the foliage and then the birds with Memento Black ink. Both stamps are from the Prima "Songbird" clear stamp set.
I had planned on putting just a monogram initial on it next, but got so upset because the stamps I had just would not get a good image. I now know that the quality of a stamp is SO important and even if it looks awesome in the package, it doesn't mean you should buy it!! I threw the whole set away and actually feel good about it!
Anyway, to get back to the card, I stamped 2 Hero Arts (great quality every time!) circles (one inside the other)  using Papertrey's Pure Poppy Ink. I added the sentiment below it from Papertrey's Mega Mixed Messages set. I finished the tag off with a thin strip of pure poppy cardstock cut with dec. scissors and some red and white baker's twine. I added foam dimensional tape to the back.
I ran a piece of Fine Linen cardstock through my BigShot in a Cuttlebug embossing folder with some Fresh Snow ink on it and placed it on a standard size white card. I stitched with black thread around the edge. Wow that's a long story! haha I really had so much fun making this and had so many other ideas for this challenge that I think I will try to do another before the deadline tomorrow! See ya then!
