Today is the final day to enter this challenge over at the Moxie Fab Blog.
The challenge is to "Create a paper crafted gift that you could give to someone this holiday season."
One of my favorite gifts for kids is books. I grew up in Michigan, where we celebrated St. Nick's day on Dec. 6th. Every year on that day, we would get a knock on the door and there would be a big bag filled with coloring books, crayons, Christmas storybooks and a few yummy treats to eat. For me and my 3 brothers it was a sign that Christmas was just around the corner. (for my mom, it was a great way to distract us and keep us busy while she prepared everything before the holiday!)
I love all the Christmas storybooks available today and have quite a large collection that I still like to read!
Some of my favorites are The Christmas Story, The Polar Express, If you take a Mouse to the Movies, Gingerbread Baby, The Crippled Lamb, The Snowman....okok I guess I like them all...ha
I decided since I give Christmas Storybooks each year, I would add a little homemade bookmark along with it. I made this with Papertrey dies. (Bookmark, Christmas tree)
I cut 2 bookmarks (I wanted it a little thicker than one) and offset them just a smidge so the color from the bottom one would peek out. I stamped the sentiment using Papertrey's Mega Mixed Messages and added some swirls from their Christmas Friends set. Then I inked around the edges. I cut the tree from felt and stitched across it. I added sequins and put a drop of Glossy Accents on each one. A silver star brad tops the tree and a ribbon finishes it off.
What a beautiful keepsake - I always give books as well. It's nice to have such a tradition with the kids in our lives, and they remember it when they grow up :) That sweet tree is perfectly decorated, too - I love it!
